Michael Jackson has a lot of fans, no doubt about this.
In the Latin music scene he is no stranger to; thanks to musican Tony Sucar, a big Michael Jackson fan the music of MJ is mixed with a great latin touch. Tony managed to combine MJ s music with salsa and latin influences . He managed to produce a whole album and many famous artists from the latin scene worked on it; Tito Nieves and La India to name a few..

The MichaelJacksonmoon website got a great chance to have an exclusive interview with musican and very talented Tony Sucre. The interview is made and done by Tirza Joemman, the lady behind the MJmoon.com website.
Tirza Joemman: There are many MJ fans who started projects after MJ S death, but Tony Sucre seems to understand the message of Michael Jackson and that is peace and harmony. I am truly impressed by Tony’s talent and humbleness and therefore he deserves an interview on the MJ moon website!

Whats plays on your iPod?

I have about 20,000 songs in my ipod right now… and shuffle its always on, so I’m constantly listening to so many different styles of music. Starting with tropical latin, to jazz, to classical, to funk, rock, and soul… And music from all the decades, I always enjoy listening to traditional music, the pioneers, old school… it helps me understand more in depth where certain influences in modern music comes from.

What is the coolest thing you learned from working with music?

Coolest thing I’ve ever learned in the world of music is when I finally learned how to orchestrate and arrange music. Being able to have a orchestra as your instrument is the best feeling ever. Writing a bunch of notes on a piece of paper and then listening to it back, and then watching people dance to it… very very awesome feeling! There’s so many possibilities, actually infinite, you get to choose the combination of instruments, when what instrument plays what… how loud, how soft, it’s truly a gift from God.

What does MJ mean to you?

Michael Jackson created the soundtrack of my life. There was not one song from Michael that did not penetrate my soul. His vocal abilities, the perfection in his music, his inspiring compositions, the emotion behind his performance, his dancing skills, his energy on stage, everything about Michael was always to the top of its potential. That’s something that I was always blew me away, how just one person could do so much, and could it so perfectly.

Michael really sacrificed his life for the art of music; he put endless amounts of hard work and dedication to deliver to the world something that is beyond extraordinary.

I strive and work extremely hard to deliver always musical experiences that are above and beyond. Of course, I’m no where near the level of Michael Jackson, but I try to follow his footsteps. Michael loved his fans, he truly did, and always gave them the best of him… I want to do the same.

I can go for days, weeks, months, talking about how I admire his music. I can also go on about how I admire the Jacksons and all the geniuses who worked with them: the musicians, producers, Quincy Jones, Bruce Swedien, Seidah Garrett, and more. But there’s one thing I need to highlight right now: the immense impact that Michael’s messages had on my life. His odes to love, respect, reflection, earth consciousness, and unity inspired me, changing my life forever. The legacy Michael has left us is one I cherish, embrace, and intend to mirror for as long as I live.

Latin & Michael Jackson, what is the power of this combination?

I came up with the concept over two years ago. It was a series of events that lead me on to creating this project. When Michael passed away three years ago, just many MJ fans around the world, I sat in disbelief, dumbfounded, experiencing one of the saddest moments in my life. A couple of months after his passing, I felt an unquenchable urge to pay homage to Michael’s legacy. I had no idea what I was going to do, or how I was going to do it; I simply knew I needed to follow my heart. Happens to be that in October of 2009 I got a call from an agent that hires my band, his name is Randy Singer, wanted to put together a Halloween party for a local club on South Beach. He had the idea of making a THRILLER theme costume party, everyone looking like zombies and all… Make a long story short, the band I had at the time was a strict salsa band, we played some other styles, but very few, mainly salsa. Randy wanted to me to perform THRILLER for that night… so I went ahead and got the idea of making a salsa arrangement to THRILLER so we can perform it live. When I sat down and wrote that arrangement, performed it, and saw how much the people went crazy for it… that’s when it all began…

I finally discovered what I could do for Michael, his legacy, his music, and his messages. My goal with paying tribute was to embody Michael’s essence by focusing this Tribute on his message of UNITY. UNITY is something that I saw in his lyrics, his music, in his dance, and his way of being. He always looked out to unite people, unite cultures, and unite talent. I wanted to expand on his message by interpreting his music in a new way; in a way where I express myself fully, because expression is in my Latin DNA. This way it would result into something new, hoping that I could continue the legacy and show the world how he influenced me and how important he still is to all of us.

Who is Tony Sucar?

Born into a family of talented musicians in Lima, Peru on May 18, 1986, Tony Succar’s very DNA must be imbued with cadence and rhythm. The Succar family moved to Miami, Florida when Tony was just two; at the ripe old age of 13, Tony’s own music career began. He says, “I was privileged to be brought up in a family of musicians: I couldn’t be more grateful.” Succar’s music education began on piano then segued to percussion. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Jazz Performance from Florida International University in 2008 and his Master’s degree in 2010. This year Succar became the youngest Artist-in-Residence FIU has ever had.

Succar has worked with artists Arturo Sandoval, Néstor Torres, Ed Calle, Tito Nieves, La India, Obie Bermudez, Jennifer Peña, and Tito Puente Jr., among others. Growing up in Miami—a multi-cultural “Melting Pot”—molded him into a versatile musician, prompting him to make the most of his prodigious talent.

President of his own record label, Mixtura Productions, Tony Succar is well-versed in a number of professional roles: bandleader, percussionist, musician, producer, composer, and arranger. He is currently endorsed by Gon Bops, a top percussion brand. Whether in a timbales solo, an orchestration, or an explosive groove, Succar’s sound is gripping and distinctive and accommodates the energies and interests of musicians and dancers. Notably, at every performance, Tony focuses on the integrity of his music.

Succar’s compositions emphasize combinations of syncopation, harmonic curiosity, rhythmic uniformity, and tasteful melodies. With his unique arrangements and personal charisma, Succar breaks the mold to create enticing masterpieces for all. Tony’s debut album (CD/DVD) “Live at the Wertheim Performing Arts Center” is a prime example. The album received excellent reviews from mainstream media, including this one: “An exciting fusion of South America, Cuba, Jazz and South Beach flavor from an up-and-coming artist who will almost certainly be heard from more in the future.” – Jazz Chicago Reviews.

Assembling an exceptional production team and featured artists, Tony Succar has created The UNITY Project, a unique endeavor aimed at the minds, ears and hearts of a global audience. Pop legend Michael Jackson’s music and life philosophies heavily influenced Tony as a youngster and teenager, truly igniting his musical ideas and passion. The UNITY Project is the result: an innovative sound that interconnects elements of American Pop, Jazz, Tropical, and World Music with the enduring foundations of the King of Pop. The UNITY album will explode beyond mainstream media to appeal indefinitely to markets around the world.

Tell us about the band..(how did it all get started, the members of the band etc)

The Unity Band is basically my original Mixtura Band but with reinforcements! It’s a 49 piece orchestra! And all the members are dear friends of mine who all share the same passion for music! We are here to show the world how much Michael still means to all of us!

What are the plans regarding touring?

We defiantly have plans to go all over the world with this project! We know that the world will embrace this in a LIVE setting ! there’s nothing like LIVE MUSIC! J right now we are still releasing the album, so it’ll be sometime till we plan the tour… but for sure touring is on our priority list!

Michael’s main message was spreading peace arround the world, how do you contribute to this message?

That’s what this project is about! UNITY! I want to continue the legacy because I truly believe in it with all of my heart. I believe this is what Michael ever wanted, for all of us to Unite and live in harmony… with no war, no racism, no hate… that’s why all of his songs contained these positive messages of love, earth consciousness, reflection, etc… Again, Team Unity and I are here to continue the legacy and keep reminding the world how important Michael still is to all of us!

Your favourite MJ song and why..

My favorite MJ song .. wow… everytime this question comes up, it’s impossible to answer! There are just too many masterpieces to choose from. If there is one song that always stands out and will never cease amaze me is Earth Song. The message, the melody, the orchestration, performance, mix, everything… truly amazing. So powerful.

MJ fans can understand each other when it comes to Jackson mania, they can share the same feelings they have for Michael.

Michael loves his fans even more, he treats his fans with utmost respect and care, when MJ turned 50 he sent pizza’s for his fans who were waiting in front of his home in Las Vegas. That’s the kind of person Michael Jackson is , very down to earth and lovable! He is a cutie pie !

When a real fan meets Michael , he or she wil be in heaven , just watch the following videos of Michael and his fans!

Any fan that is lucky enough to have met Michael Jackson will know how friendly he is. His music appeals to so many different people, both young and old – from those who love to go to his live concerts, to others who prefer to listen to his songs at home or doing household chores. Yet Michael treats them all equally, and makes time for everyone that he meets, regardless of their age or background!

Michael Jackson fans often seem hysterical when they meet him, but anyone can understand what an amazing experience it is to meet the King Of Pop! Their tears are always those of happiness at having been able to meet their idol. Even though MJ is an international superstar, he is still so considerate of all the dedicated fans of his music

The book is spectaculair , as it has been written by Michael Jackson himself. A real MJ fan owns the english version, because one can find his own words in the english version of Moonwalk.

The book chronicles MJ’s early years from the Jackson 5 untill the BAD period.

Michael breaks his silence and talks about his life , the book takes you on a journey you have never been on . It gives you a glimpse of the real Michael Jackson , the real King of Pop !

Just read the following passage from Michael’s Moonwalk , he talks about his Billie jean performance on Motown 25:

Michael Jackson:

“‘The Motown 25 show had actually been taped a month earlier, in April. The whole title was Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, and Forever , and I’m forced to admit I had to be talked into doing it. I’m glad I did because the show eventually produced some of the happiest and proudest moments of my life.

As I mentioned earlier, I said no to the idea at first. I had been asked to appear as a member of the Jacksons and then do a dance number on my own. But none of us were Motown artists any longer. There were lengthy debates between me and my managers, Weisner and DeMann. I thought about how much Berry Gordy had done for me and the group, but I told my managers and Motown that I didn’t want to go on TV. My whole attitude toward TV is fairly negative. Eventually Berry came to see me to discuss it. I was editing “Beat It” at the Motown studio, and someone must have told him I was in the building. He came down to the studio and talked to me about it at length. I said, “Okay, but if I do it, I want to do ‘Billie Jean.’” It would have been the only non-Motown song in the whole show. He told me that’s what he wanted me to do anyway. So we agreed to do a Jacksons’ medley, which would include Jermaine. We were all thrilled.

So I gathered my brothers and rehearsed them for this show. I really worked them, and it felt nice, a bit like the old days of the Jackson 5. I choreographed them and rehearsed them for days at our house in Encino, videotaping every rehearsal so we could watch it later. Jermaine and Marlon also made their contributions. Next we went to Motown in Pasadena for rehearsals. We did our act and, even though we reserved our energy and never went all out at rehearsal, all the people there were clapping and coming around and watching us. Then I did my “Billie Jean” rehearsal. I just walked through it because as yet I had nothing planned. I hadn’t had time because I was so busy rehearsing the group.

The next day I called my management office and said, “Please order me a spy’s hat, like a cool fedora – something that a secret agent would wear.” I wanted something sinister and special, a real slouchy kind of hat. I still didn’t have a very good idea of what I was going to do with “Billie Jean.”

During the Thriller sessions, I had found a black jacket, and I said, “You know, someday I’m going to wear this to perform. It was so perfect and so show business that I wore it on Motown 25 .

But the night before the taping, I still had no idea what I was going to do with my solo number. So I went down to the kitchen of our house and played “Billie Jean.” Loud. I was in there by myself, the night before the show, and I pretty much stood there and let the song tell me what to do. I kind of let the dance create itself. I really let it talk to me; I heard the beat come in, and I took this spy’s hat and started to pose and step, letting the “Billie Jean” rhythm create the movements. I felt almost compelled to let it create itself. I couldn’t help it. And that – being able to “step back” and let the dance come through – was a lot of fun.

I had also been practicing certain steps and movements, although most of the performance was actually spontaneous. I had been practicing the Moonwalk for some time, and it dawned on me in our kitchen that I would finally do the Moonwalk in public on Motown 25.

Now the Moonwalk was already out on the street by this time, but I enhanced it a little when I did it. It was born as a break-dance step, a “popping” type of thing that blacks kids had created dancing on the street corners in the ghetto. Black people are truly innovative dancers; they create many of the new dances, pure and simple. So I said, “This is my chance to do it,” and I did it. These three kids taught it to me. They gave me the basics – and I had been doing it a lot in private. I had practiced it together with certain other steps. All I was really sure of was that on the bridge to “Billie Jean” I was going to walk backward and forward at the same time, like walking on the moon.

One the day of the taping, Motown was running behind schedule. Late. So I went off and rehearsed by myself. By then I had my spy hat. My brothers wanted to know what the hat was for, but I told them they’d have to wait and see. But I did ask Nelson Hayes for a favor. “Nelson – after I do the set with my brothers and the lights go down, sneak the hat out to me in the dark. I’ll be in the corner, next to the wings, talking to the audience, but you sneak that hat back there and put it in my hand in the dark.”

So after my brothers and I finished performing, I walked over to the side of the stage and said, “You’re beautiful! I’d like to say those were the good old days; those were magic moments with all my brothers, including Jermaine. But what I really like” – and Nelson is sneaking the hat into my hand – “are the newer songs.” I turned around and grabbed the hat and went into “Billie Jean,” into that heavy rhythm; I could tell that people in the audience were really enjoying my performance. My brothers told me they were crowding the wings watching me with their mouths open, and my parents and sisters were out there in the audience. But I just remember opening my eyes at the end of the thing and seeing this sea of people standing up, applauding. And I felt so many conflicting emotions. I knew I had done my best and felt good, so good. But at the same time I felt disappointed in myself. I had planned to do one really long spin and to stop on my toes, suspended for a moment, but I didn’t stay on my toes as long as I wanted. I did the spin and I landed on one toe. I wanted to just stay there, just freeze there, but it didn’t work quite as I’d planned.

When I got backstage, the people back there were congratulating me. I was still disappointed about the spin. I had been concentrating so hard and I’m such a perfectionist. At the same time I knew this was one of the happiest moments of my life. I knew that for the first time my brothers had really gotten a chance to watch me and see what I was doing, how I was evolving. After the performance, each of them hugged and kissed me backstage. They had never done that before, and I felt happy for all of us. It was so wonderful when they kissed me like that. I loved it! I mean, we hug all the time. My whole family embraces a lot, except for my father. He’s the only one who doesn’t. Whenever the rest of us see each other, we embrace, but when they all kissed me that night, I felt as if I had been blessed by them.

The performance was still gnawing at me, and I wasn’t satisfied until a little boy came up to me backstage. He was about ten years old and was wearing a tuxedo. He looked up at me with stars in his eyes, frozen where he stood, and said, “Man, who ever taught you to dance like that?” I kind of laughed and said, “Practice, I guess.” And this boy was looking at me, awestruck. I walked away, and for the first time that evening I felt really good about what I had accomplished that night. I said to myself, I must have done really well because children are honest. When that kid said what he did, I really felt that I had done a good job. I was so moved by the whole experience that I went right home and wrote down everything which had happened that night. My entry ended with my encounter with the child.

The day after the Motown 25 show, Fred Astaire called me on the telephone. He said – these are his exact words – “You’re a hell of a mover. Man, you really put them on their asses last night.” That’s what Fred Astaire said to me. I thanked him. Then he said, “You’re an angry dancer. I’m the same way. I used to do the same thing with my cane.”

I had met him once or twice in the past, but this was the first time he had ever called me. He went on to say, “I watched the special last night; I taped it and I watched it again this morning. You’re a hell of a mover.”

It was the greatest compliment I had ever received in my life, and the only one I had ever wanted to believe. For Fred Astaire to tell me that meant more to me than anything. Later my performance was nominated for an Emmy Award in a musical category, but I lost to Leontyne Price. It didn’t matter. Fred Astaire had told me things I would never forget – that was my reward. Later he invited me to his house, and there were more compliments from him until I really blushed. He went over my “Billie Jean” performance, step by step. The great choreographer Hermes Pan, who had choreographed Fred’s dances in the movies, came over, and I showed them how to Moonwalk and demonstrated some other steps that really interested them.

Not long after that Gene Kelly came by my house to visit and also said he liked my dancing. It was a fantastic experience, that show, because I felt I had been inducted into an informal fraternity of dancers, and I felt so honored because these were the people I most admired in the world.

Right after Motown 25 my family read a lot of stuff in the press about my being “the new Sinatra” and as “exciting as Elvis” – that kind of thing. It was very nice to hear, but I knew the press could be so fickle. One week they love you, and the next week they act like you’re rubbish. Later I gave the glittery black jacket I wore on Motown 25 to Sammy Davis as a present. He said he was going to do a takeoff of me on stage, and I said, “Here, you want to wear this when you do it?” He was so happy. I love Sammy. He’s such a fine man and a real showman. One of the best. I had been wearing a single glove for years before Thriller . I felt that one glove was cool. Wearing two gloves seemed so ordinary, but a single glove was different and was definitely a look. But I’ve long believed that thinking too much about your look is one of the biggest mistakes you can make, because an artist should let his style evolve naturally, spontaneously. You can’t think about these things; you have to feel your way into them.”

A lot is said about chimpansee Bubbles , former favourite pet of Michael Jackson. But the latest claim is that MJ left Bubbles, who is now 26 , 2 million dollars. This clearly shows how much Michael loves bubbles. MJ adopted the chimp in 1985 and saved the chimp from experiments in a cancer clinic in texas.

Bubbles escorted Michael everywhere, on the bad tour , at the bad rehearsals, recording ; Bubbles stayed with Michael in Japan in an 2 bedroomed suite. First Bubbles stayed at the Encino home, then in 1988 he moved with MJ to neverland, where Bubbles had a crib in MJ’s bedroom ; rumour has it that he even used Michael’s private toilet.
Unfortunately Bubbles became very agressive in the later years and MJ couldn’t handle him anymore, when Prince I was born MJ made the difficult decision to let Bubbles move to another place. So Bubbles moved to a animal sanctuary , now Bubbles lives in a center for great apes in florida. Here he lives alongside other chimps.

Elizabeth Taylor’s eight wedding was held at Neverland and it has been reported that Bubbles was the ring bearer.

Of course MJ wouldnt be MJ and so he often visited Bubbles with his kids.
Bubbles loves to paint and listens to flute music nowadays, isn’t it strange he loves music so much , no , after all he grow up with MJ at his side. Bubbles also loves to sit in trees , so did MJ, and he does this with his best friend Sam, also a chimp.
The last time MJ visited bubbles the chimp recognized Mike and Bubbles missed Michael from the day he had to split from him. Chimpansees are very intelligent , says the pet trainer of Bubbles. Bubbles knows that MJ had passed away. The pet trainer said, that MJ felt like Bubbles was his first child and he hopes that his 3 kids will visit their “stephbrother”.
Our love goes to Bubbles.

The THIS IS IT movie wil be shown in cimema’s worldwide only a few hours from now.Fans around the world will get a glimpse of what Michael Jackson would have put on stage in the O2 theater in London .

It is merely a glimpse , because you can not compare a rehearsal with the real thing .Special suites were created for MJ by famous designers , some of them were not finished when MJ passed away and he never saw those suits. Of course he didnt wear them on the rehearsals, but never the less MJ always looked like a royalty .

Michael seemed to be very fit and fresh during the rehearsals , his voice was stil phenomenal so did his dance. He put a stamp on the whole organisation , what MJ wanted would happen. he wanted to knock his fans out of their seats , create something new, something unexpected…

We can’t wait to see Michael in THIS IS IT , we expect the best of him .
